I have not been a good blogger, lately! I think October was just such a whirlwind! And November has started out quite that way as well.
As you might have read, my birthday was a week ago. My kids at school were really good that day, which I appreciated. And they were very sweet (although, they usually are). :) The remainder of the week kind of flew by somehow. Suddenly, it was Thursday night and Matt's parents were coming to see our house for the first time on Friday! We whipped through the house tidying, doing some vacuum touch ups, and the like. I hurried home Friday as fast as I could, so as to not keep them waiting long if they were in town. As it turned out, I had time to change clothes and check the mail before introducing them, upon their arrival, to Sammy and our house. :) Matt left work around 6 and we got to spend the rest of Friday and Saturday with them. On Saturday morning, Matt and his dad installed a new fan with LIGHT kit in the den. It's SOOOO much better. The wiring of the old fan was not cooperating with a light kit we previously tried to add on with my dad. But the room is SO dark--no lights, only a skylight (which doesn't do much good when the sun goes down ;) ). It is now WONDERFUL. It makes us VERY excited to see the den when we take the paneling down and put up dry wall and paint it the same as the rest of the house. It will be amazing!
Matt's parents had to leave early Sunday morning. I know I like to get settled in back home before returning to work, so I'm glad they could do that, although we missed having them join us for church. I totally messed up our alarm clock. The guys had to shut off some circuit breakers to do the fan, and I reset the clock wrong. So, we didn't wake up for church until 9:30 (it's about 10 minutes away and we're supposed to pass out bulletins at 9:45). I WAS going to shower before church, instead I had to rush and get there. Matt followed when he was dressed. It was rather hectic.
Sunday afternoon, I honestly don't remember what we did. Oh, we browsed through the mall--I had a coupon. There wasn't too much to see, though. I'm not a mall shopper really, but sometimes I like to go to the mall in Knoxville just because it's SO much better than the one here. :) I really appreciate the selection now that I'm in a place that's limited. When we got home, Matt and I went through the Bible study lesson he was signed up to lead that night. I really liked going through it with him. It was really cool and it was just great to be in the Word together. Then we went to Bible study where very few other people showed up. We ended up just visiting with the couple who hosts it and the one other guy who came. Matt will lead his lesson next week, and then we're taking a break until January.
Sammy is still doing well. I tried to brush her teeth today, and she didn't really want any part of it. She DID like the poultry flavored tooth paste, so we tried to act like it was a reward, "Sit, Sammy" (Good girl, now I'll put this toothbrush in your mouth as a reward). She didn't really fall for it. But, we'll keep at it. :) I'll try to take some more pictures, soon. We left our rechargeable batteries in the room where we dressed for Erin's wedding at her church, so I need to see if we have any other rechargeable batteries around here.
I am VERY excited that next week is Thanksgiving. I think I will get 4 WHOLE days + part of Sunday in Knoxville. It sounds like a DREAM!! :) :) :) :) :) :) Plus, planning for next week should be fun. We have practice FCATs Monday and Tuesday, so that leaves one day of full instructional time in reading and math, which is not worth beginning a new story or spelling lesson, etc. So, I'm hoping to plan some fun fall and Thanksgiving activities. Maybe some readers' theatre, fall crafts, and the like. I'm excited. :)
So, there's a little update for us. We hope you are well, and hopefully we'll see you soon (if you're in Knoxville)! Bekah--will you be in town? I'm SO sad I missed you when we were up in August. I would LOOOOVE to see you!! If you'll be gone, we'll be back right after Christmas. :)
That's all for now. :) Have a blessed week!
Love,
Becca
