Today has been spent mosy-ing about town, stopping here and there and looking at this and that. First we went by PetSmart. We both miss our family's dogs and would like to have a dog someday (operative word being someday). Every now and then, we go pat on the dogs at PetSmart to get our puppy fix. Well, last time we went Matt fell in love and asked all day to go back. I purposefully only petted so much so I wouldn't get too attached. Well, today it was my turn. I totally fell for a sweet little girl named Daisy (E--her siblings were Donald, Huey, Duey, and Luey!). She's was a pretty tan color with white on her muzzle and up between her eyes and floppy ears like a Chihuahua (sp?). She was so soft, so sweet, nuzzled in, smelled like a sweet puppy, and of course had the big, bright brown puppy dog eyes! On the other hand, we are saving for a house, don't need vet, dog food, and other dog-accompanying expenses, not to mention the extra pet fee our current home requires and the hassle of finding a pet-friendly place if we end up renting again before we buy. In addition, we both work all day and travel quite a ways to see our families. Oh yeah, and she was a German Shepherd mix. They guessed she'd be 50 lbs. max, but they also think she could be part Rottweiler, which isn't small either, so I'm not too sure about that whole 5o lb. estimate. Anyway, I've been talking about her all day and we keep convincing ourselves we do NOT need a dog right now. We wanted that sweet little puppy, of course, but we do not need her. The timing just isn't right. And if the timing's not right, she's not the right dog.
We also looked through Pier 1 and drove down to Williston. It's called Historic Williston. I agreed, only I think they might have left off a "Pre-" hehe. It's a sweet little town, just very sleepy and not exactly pulsing with too much life. And it's be quite a drive for us. We also want to keep in mind as we look that if we go tooooo far out, Satan would love to have us use that as an excuse for not making it to worship on Sundays. So, if we live in another town, we've already recognized we'll have to be really hard-nosed with ourselves about going--no matter how far it is! :) We also drove around some other areas I had discovered. It AMAZES me that you can find DIRT roads between our house and the Publix by the interstate (for Mom's reference)!!!! And if you drive even 3 miles past the interstate, it's mostly dirt roads. Nuts. We continue to find things that are either realllllly, realllllly old and small or the right age/size range but on huge parcels. We did find one neighborhood we really liked, but it's probably just out of our range. :-( So, we are (I am) preparing myself for the possibility of renting somewhere a little longer. Oh, moving twice so soon doesn't sound fun. But who knows what God will do! I still can't get those new houses in Newberry out of my head, but so far they don't have the right model back on the market. Who knows if they'll even build another spec house of that model? Maybe we can at least get some info from the model center. I know there were few trees, but I just can't believe it was in our price range. Maybe a realtor can lead us to more things like that. And Matt's friends at work found a neighborhood that sounds PERFECT. We are waiting for the name/directions from them.
I made chicken packets for dinner; just a few more minutes to go. My sweet husband is doing the dishes. :)
We hope you've had a good Saturday! Three weeks from LAST NIGHT we should be in Knoxville!! FLY time FLY!! :)
Love,
Becca

Just catching up and had to comment on the dog situation. First, think of Bug. She is a 50 ish pound shepherd. Big dog and lots of fur to shed!!! Vaccume daily during big shed times. And second, a real funny I heard on the radio the other day: owning a dog costs as much as a Mercedes over their entire lifetime!!! Good decision to wait on the dog.
Miss you guys.
Trudi & Kylan
Becca . . put your realtor to work. She/he will find the price/area/house that will fit your needs. That's their job. Also . . I have a new appreciation for renting . . I heard someone the other day call the rent you are paying "buying patience" I know another move so soon is overwhelming but think about how much larger the "down payment on the house account" will be after another season of renting. You'll know because it will be obvious and come with great peace. We miss you guys.
Becca, Kylan has his own AOL screen name and e-mail address. I will help him check it if you would like to send him a simple note sometime. That would be great fun and good reading practice. Its; Kmneubeck@aol.com
Thanks!!! Trudi
hmmm....chicken packets? What makes them into a packet? :)
Tim and I adopted a 4 year old Jack Russell from a PetSmart adoption event and it was the BEST decision we ever made!!! I can't imagine how I'll be able to love the baby more than I love our dog Riley! :)
My parents hung out with the Eberles last night...I think we should ALL (Guilfords, Bryants, Eberles) get together sometime! Wouldn't that be fun!?! :)
Kitsy
Hey Kids! A dog! Wow, that is a big step like a kid! :) The nice thing about a kid is that it comes with grandparents...dogs do not! :) Just a thought!
We love you guys and we are praying for you as you house hunt. There is no doubt in my mind that the Lord will lead you to the perfect house for you! It is amazing to watch Him work by opening and closing doors literally in a house search. We will be praying!!!
We REALLY are NOT serious about getting a dog right now or in the even remotely near future. We miss Ellie, Chess, and Browning. We miss companionship so much that even a dog sounds better than the rather friendless state we find ourselves in as new residents of a new city and state! But friends are pretty free, dogs are not at all. :) It's fun to visit the puppies, but there is NO way we're getting a dog right now. No worries. :)
Poor Becca, I know what it's like to miss a doggie. :( I love my kitties but they are not a dog. And I'm a cat person! I can't imagine how you must feel! :( I'm sure that Ellie misses you but I think you are being wise to wait to get a dog. A friend of mine got a dog and she has to rush home from school everyday to make sure she hasn't messed in the house and she's gonna have to have her brother dog sit for a year because of the unexpected baby. Not what I would want to do if I had a dog. :) Plus just think, if you get that house you want...then you can get a dog! It'll have a yard and a place to play when you aren't home, plus not too far in the future you'll be home to raise little humans so what's another pretend human. ;) I hope your week goes well and I love you both and miss you lots!
I totally love the huey duey daisy donald thing! that's great! :-D
