A Little Under the Weather

The past couple days I have been a little under the weather. I believe it started with the near-record rain we received this weekend. It rained 4.62" on Saturday alone! The gets all the mold and mildew going, and that gets my allergies going. But so far, so good. I'm not getting worse, so that's a good sign! Just stuffy, achy, and tired.

Today was pretty productive, nonetheless. I made my sweet husband his lunch and sent him on his way to work. I relaxed a little bit, worked on a Christmas present for someone, and.... finished the last of wedding thank yous I had waiting for me (!!!) They are now all written, addressed, stamped, AND mailed! Wow! My goal had been Dec. 15 (2 months after the wedding), but subbing made that a little trickier. I still got them all out in less than 2 months since we returned from our honeymoon. We did have one gift we could never identify with a giver; a lovely crystal vase. So, if you gave us a lovely crystal vase and don't receive a thank you within the next week or two, please let me know. I would love to thank you with a written note, I'm only sorry we don't know who it's from! Also, if you gave us anything else and don't receive a thank you within a week or two, please let me know. With how many thank yous I sent out, I figure the stats are on the side of at least one getting lost in the mail, and I'd be happy to rectify that. :) I know what it's like to wonder if the bride and groom received your gift okay, so don't hesitate to ask if you're unsure. :) Thank you to all who allowed God to use you to bless us so abundantly!

The first errand I did was stopping by Target. I found Matt 2 last little Christmas gifts, and I got Brad's Christmas gift. :) We are DONE! Well, *I* am done. I know Matt didn't return empty-handed last night from shopping for me, but I don't know if he's done.

I then went to the bank for the 3rd time to change my name on our accounts. This time I had all the necessary paperwork and proof--each time I go to change my name somewhere they say I need some form of ID I don't have with me, and then when I take that back they say they don't need that they need what I had the first time. Oh well. It's done and new checks and a new check card with the correct name are on their way! Then I drove to the post office/Publix (next door). I bought stamps at the post office, stamped the thank yous that lacked stamps, and put them in the mailbox!!! After that was a quick grocery shopping excursion, since we are leaving town later this week (I don't have to cook 7 dinners). Also, I forgot about our lunar-versary dinner and Exactech party when I planned the menu last week, so I have 2 dinners to carry over to this week. :) Hooray! I got a couple good BOGOs (buy one, get one free) too--spuh sauce, spuds, and break apart cookie dough for cheap! Lastly, I dropped off 2 books on tape at the library I needed to return. I didn't ever actually get to listen to them, but I can always check them out again later.

When I got home I put away the groceries, checked the mail (thank you to our SC parents and the Jenkins for the Christmas cards), and rested for a moment. I was rearranging some things in the pantry and discovered something that had spilled and stained the tile floor. So I spent 10-15 minutes scouring the tiles--they look fine now, praise the Lord. Then I mopped the kitchen floor (might as well) and vacuumed the downstairs. Whew! All that while I'm sick!

Now I'm anxiously awaiting my husband's return from work. It sounds like he was a busy bee today. He thought he'd be home just after 6. :-( It's now 6:43. I'm not sure what to do about dinner....

Tomorrow I would like to dust and wrap Christmas presents. I'm also meeting the teacher I've replaced at my classroom at 10:30, because she left something on accident. One of our smoke detectors needs a new battery as well, so I'll be making a maintenance request. Oh boy!

Tomorrow is Brad's birthday--HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRAD!! We LOVE you, we hope you have a HAPPY birthday with FUN hats, and we can't WAIT to see you! Your first birthday with Charis! :)

As one last aside, I had a dream last night that Brad and Joy got a pet pig. In my dream, pigs were supposed to be really tidy pets--hence it being BRAD and Joy's pet. I know that doesn't really make sense--a tidy pig. As Matt pointed out this morning when I told him about it, "Uhhh, Becca... PIG STY! NOT tidy." So, as you can imagine, the pet pig did not turn out to be so tidy (I figured out upon waking that pigs are supposed to be SMART pets, not tidy). It made messes everywhere. And then on top of that, in my dream my sweet grandfather wrote a letter that he wanted to get all the grandchildren pet dogs, so Brad and Joy had to get a pet dog too! That's about as far as my dream got. :) Now you know what kinds of fun stories Matt gets to hear in the mornings. :)

Matt just called, and he's finally on his way home, so I guess I can start dinner now. We hope you have a good evening! We love you and miss you, and hopefully we'll be seeing you soon. ;)

Love,
Becca

I'm sorry you aren't feeling better. I so do look up to you. When I'm sick, nothing gets done! You are a very very good little wifey! :)

You know I think wierd dreams are going around. The past two nights I've dreamed that I was either drowning in papers that needed to be either graded or entered into the computer or surrounded by nothing but cookies for the Christmas party. EH!

I love you and miss you!
