Christmas Party

Matt's company's Christmas party was last night, so we attended. We talked to some of his coworkers about how dressy to be, and they were going suit (for the guy) and full length gown (for the girl). I didn't wasn't planning to go quite that dressy, but they wanted to take advantage of a chance to dress up.

While Matt was doing some Christmas browsing (for me!! :) hehe), I decided to see what dressy options I could create. I straightened my hair (as much as possible when it was pouring rain all day and humidity=curls, and my straightening mechansims are all still in Knoxville) and decided on the claret red skirt from Matt and Ariana's bridesmaids' dresses with a velvet sleeveless shell, and due to the chilly, rainy evening, the black sweater and pin I wore for our rehearsal. I waited for Matt to get home from shopping, and told him to go upstairs and I would come up after him. Then he could see my outfit and tell me if he thought it was too dressy. He was so sweet, he told me that I was absolutely wearing it to the dinner and that he'd happily wear a suit if need be. I told him he didn't need to--he wore gray slacks and a black cashmere sweater. But of course, you can see that above. :) We took some pictures when we got home, and they took a picture in front of a beautiful tree at the party too. We should be able to post that after they put it on his intranet at work. :) It turns out we were quite appropriately dressed as several women had on formal dresses, although others had on church-type clothes or cocktail attire. :)

So, we had a fun evening. Today Matt was going to play paintball with some guys from work, but the ground is pretty much soaked with standing water in places. So, they're postponing until after Christmas. In the meantime, I am cleaning up around the house, addressing the next-to-last batch of thank yous and Christmas cards, and hopefully wrapping Matt's presents while he goes shopping some more (maybe he'll even make some purchases today). :)

We also hung a few last things up around the house, as you see above. :) We hope you have a wonderful weekend, a blessed Sunday, and we'll see you THIS WEEK if you're a TN Guilford who's staying in town. :) We can't wait!!

Love,
Becca

The amazing cross we finally got hung--YEA!
The spectacular wall hanging Jackie made for us :)
We finally hung the picture over our couch--much better without the blank wall

The gift box with ornaments decorating one bookshelf of the wall unit (the other bookshelf top has the figurines that spell JOY, to give you an idea)

Next I'll have a post with some gifts I got from kids at school, and I think Matt might make a post about our sleeping habits. :)
