After living here 3 months (well, Matt has lived here 3 months, I've lived here [counts...] almost 5 days), we finally have all our lights! Our unit was a "corporate" unit before we moved in. When the big whigs would come out and check on the property, they would stay in corporate units. They upgrade a few things in corportate units, like light fixtures and outlet covers, etc. Silly things. But they do not leave them in the units once they become rented. Oh no. The office also mixed up our move-in date back in July, so they did not have time to replace all the spiffed up things, like, you know, LIGHTS. They had to hurry and install 2 or 3 lights back in July. And maintenance was out of the light fixture that goes in the stairwell. Matt submitted work orders for that while I was gone, but they must have been misplaced.
Lo and behold, the newlywed bride goes to the rental office (the ladies figured out we just got married since I go to pick up a wedding gift package almost daily) and returns with success! The maintenance man actually walked into the rental office while I was there and said he'd be over later this afternoon. Just a short time later there was a knock at the door. We are now the dwellers of a well-lit stairwell (the bulb at the top had burned out too, which they fixed for me), and we no longer have wires hanging from our bedroom ceiling (where they apparently removed a fan). And the guy told me we can install a light fixture in our bedroom if we want (we'd heard by word-of-mouth that that wasn't allowed--they had a few ceiling fans fall). Now, don't get me wrong, our townhouse is great. I wouldn't actually BUY a unit, as they're now trying to convince people to do, but to rent for our first year of marriage, it's primo. And now, it has all its lights too. :)
