So, I am going to try something new with meal planning. I definitely don't prefer to just "think something up" when I get home from work. It's too tempting to #1- eat out by default (which we really don't do much), or #2- have Matt stop and pick up a few ingredients, which means I am not taking as much advantage of sale items at the grocery store. I usually make a weekly list, but to help me think of what to put on the weekly menu, I'm going to try a rotating plan. I'm not planning a whole month at once, because I do like to take sales into account in my planning. I design our weekly menu around what is on sale. But this way I'll have right in front of me some regular meals to rotate in and out depending on the sales. It also breaks things up into different "tastes" each day. It will not be hard and fast, set in stone. But I think it will cut some time off of deciding what to cook for the week, and hopefully help me rotate new/different recipes through more frequently.
Here's the schedule we'll try:
Mondays: Italian
Tuesdays: beef
Wednesdays: Mexican
Thursdays: chicken
Fridays: easy
Saturday: mix and match
Sunday: crockpot (now that our new small group meets Sunday late afternoon/early evening... more on that later :) )

That's what I do too! The only differences we have is our
Monday is potato night or breakfast for dinner and Thursday is "deli" night...you know, items like soup and sandwiches.
I sure love reading your blogs! I don't comment as much since transferring to Google reader but I'm still faithfully reading! :)
Love you and praying lots for you!

Gotta love the ham slobs. :) :) Wherever did you get THAT recipe???
I can't wait to try your plan! Love, Mom
How fun to know you do it too, Kay! I love your dedicated potato/breakfast dinner idea and the deli night. I need to save those ideas to switch out in a couple months. :)
And Mom, where DID I get ham slobs from? :) :)
Matt's comments upon seeing my "plan":
1-Wow, who would have thought I'd live in a house that serves 3 kinds of tacos.
2-When he saw the list of chicken entrees, he started in on the Bubba Shrimp list from Forest Gump and was QUITE amused with himself. :)
