A First!

I made my first baby blanket, and it's even a quilt! That was not my original intent, but it's how it turned out. You can see more pictures on my craft blog.

I'm debating two things:

#1: Green satin blanket binding.... yes? Or leave it the way it is?

#2: Actually "quilt" it or hand-tie it? Or leave it the way it is? It's a little "travel blanket" size for a baby shower..... now sure how I want to "finish" it off. Suggestions?!

Thanks!
Becca

p.s. If you think of it, please pray for a situation in my class at school. Thank you.

Hmmmm, so many good questions...Not a fan of binding! I am working on being a friend of binding but I am not there yet. I have a hard time on the corners but I am practicing and getting better slowly! I would recommend no binding just because with the yellow being thicker and a little funky to work with it could lead to a bit of frustration. I have to give a disclaimer here though as I just put binding on a quilt today so I am really tired of binding! ;) The fuzzy stuff is an adventure to quilt but doable! I say it is what ever feels good to you for the blanket although I think that it would be really fun to tie it with different colors from the fabric like some reds and blues etc. Just a few thoughts...hope that helps a little. Whatever you end up doing have fun and don't forget to share pics when you are done! :)

Gosh, it turned out GREAT! It's really cute. I like the fuzze part - and the happy spaceships.
Thanks for chatting tonight - that was sweet!
I love you! Mom

Hey Becca, I check your blog from Joy's. I say no binding because I think it will take away from all the other work you did. Looks great! However, I'm not a quilter so I don't know what you mean by the ties. Unless that means sewing the two pieces together. You could use different colors like a blue on the top and a red on the bottom. (Meaning use blue thread as your spool color and red as your bobbin.) I hope that makes sense, but like I said I wasn't sure what it means, but that's what I like to do on my blankets.
