Achoo! The flu!

Well, I've been home sick all weekend, and hubby-less to boot!

At the end of last week, I started getting a sore, scratchy throat. Matt had the same thing a day or two before me, but he was fine after one day. Unfortunately, I didn't have the same speedy recovery. :) It turned into a cold, which triggered asthma (though not even as badly as it could have, which is a blessing--I never woke up in the night coughing for long). I took yesterday off to rest up and make sure I wasn't contagious, and I thought that was the end of it. Then I woke up sick in the middle of the night.

I've never lived alone--I had the blessing of living at my parents' through undergrad and grad school. And then I moved in with my husband after our wedding! I have a great deal of respect for people who live alone, and especially women who live alone. Matt and I teased about how he got me sick and then went out of town. But, we added, "I least Becca's not throwing up." Ha. Famous last words.

I thought he had to get up early this morning, so I called my mom (who had to get up too, but you know, when you're sick you need to talk to Mom). She prayed for me that I would not get sick again and talked to me while my stomach settled down (for awhile, at least). :) I got sick again an hour later, felt sick an hour after that, and got sick again an hour after THAT, right before I called in for a sub (I was waiting for a decent hour).

Praise the Lord, I fell back asleep after calling in for the sub, and I haven't been sick since. Although, my stomach does not feel right, and I've still had a fever off and on. I made it down the road to Publix for some Sprite, so I could finally drink something.

Sick is no fun! But, it shows me how much we can take our health for granted. This is a minor inconvenience compared to so many things! It's also making me appreciate my sweet class even more, as I really miss them! We were getting to the point after Christmas where holidays are over for a bit and it can feel kind of "same old, same old thing." Now I really miss them, I'm excited about what we have coming up, and I wish *I* was the one at school teaching them this week.

I do hope to go back Thursday. That's report card day (dun, dun, dun!). And I just don't know how much longer I can put off some of the "meat" from my lesson plans to accommodate a substitute. And I have new reading centers we're starting, and I had a science lab planned for tomorrow (oh well). :-( We'll squeeze it all in somehow when I get back. :)

I can't wait for Matt to get home, and he said I have the whole time he's gone to decide how he can make it up to me that he got me sick, with the FLU, and then left. :) hehe I hope you are well and having a good week! May we praise the Lord for even the "small" things, like not having a cold or the flu. :)

Blessings,
Becca
