Classroom Update

Here are a few pictures from my classroom. I've been working loooong (11, 12+ hours) days to get things ready. Tomorrow is "meet the teacher" after lunch. It's been NUTS! But, I think I'm at least ready for the students and parents to come walk around tomorrow. I have all but the math textbooks assigned and recorded (I just got the math ones this afternoon)--especially thanks to my sweet husband's help. He came by yesterday after work and helped me finish the science textbooks.

I have the Smart Board (!!!) and it's hooked up to my laptop. At first, they were not speaking to each other this morning, but now things seem to have smoothed out. Hopefully and Lord willing, they will keep "communicating" well with each other. :)

I am WORN OUT and wish we had a week off before students came! I think it's a good idea, actually. :) But, I have laminated to my heart's content (alas, then you have to cut your fun items OUT of the laminating film), labeled various and sundry items with my students' names (23 so far; 14 girls and 9 boys), organized supply drawers, discovered things brought down from Knoxville, rediscovered things I enjoyed from last year (magnets and push pins are helpful when you finally find them again), and feel pretty good about things overall. I know I'll do some tweaking to my teacher areas, but the room's ready. I'm just nervous about my very first "first day" with my own class. Pray for me, please!

Well, here are a few pictures. :)

My classroom helper... thingy. I haven't assigned the jobs yet, so all the students' names are surrounding the little school house.

A bulletin board with the students' names on little cars (which double as name tags for the first few days. Later I'll put up a different board and keep the name tags for when I have a sub or we have a special guest) and yellow street lines and a "Steamers Crossing" sign. :) I have blacked out the students' last names for privacy, but you can still click on this to see it bigger and better. :)

My not-quite-done-yet calendar math bulletin board. It's a new program we're doing in all grade levels this year. Also, my Mrs. Kubo mailbox for notes and such from the students.

A view to the left as you come in the door. I'm saving those middle cupboard fronts for work they do, etc.

Smart Board (think "Stuffff Marrrrrrt" from Veggie Tales) :) :)

There's my good ol' teacher's desk (and Nalgene bottle in the foreground)

"Bathroom curriculum"... division tables and "10 Great Ways to Treat Others." I also have times tables in there. They spend so much time in the bathroom, I might as well give them some good stuff to look at. :) I'll let you know if I notice a difference. :) hehe

There you have it for now! Heeeeeere we go!

B, you are so creative! I love it! I may have to steal some of your ideas for next year! I don't change my bullentin boards once they are up for the year. :) But next year...there's always next year. Those are one lucky set of kids to get to spend a whole year with an amazing teacher like you!

I hope that you have a great day! It looks like there are fun times ahead in Mrs. Kubo's class! We are praying for you and look forward to hearing about all that takes place in those hallowed walls of your classroom.
