Marathon Move!

Sorry we've been "missing" the last few days. It sure has been an adventure, but God has been with us through it all, and we are in the house!

On Friday, Matt and I went to the closing and signed all our papers at 10:30. Our attorney almost let us leave without collecting the certified check for closing! I reminded her though. ;) Then, unfortunately, it was a long and FRUSTRATING wait to actually "get" the house. After several mishaps and lots of waiting (more details later--we did our part right, others had some slips), we finally got keys at 7:00 Friday night. The first thing we (Dad) did was change the locks. Mom and I could only sweep, because the utilities had not been turned on! Can you believe it? I called the emergency hotline and they sent someone to turn everything on about an hour later. Upon seeing the house with the lights on, we saw very quickly that the house was a mess! The tenants "messy" nature had hid a lot of DIRTY carpets and walls. YUCK! It was rather disheartening. Mom and Dad to the rescue! We (Mom) started scrubbing! Thankfully, we had already decided to get new carpets and padding, which are being installed today. All our furniture is in the den (wood floors) and all our boxes are in the garage. Since we didn't want to move things for carpeting, about all we could do was clean and paint! So, instead of just the master bedroom and dining room (it was pea soup green), the master bedroom, a guest bedroom, the dining room, living rooom, AND kitchen are all painted! :) And we've slept with tarps, etc. between our matresses and the gross carpet. I can't wait to go home from work today to the new carpet and start putting rooms together!

We are VERY thankful for the house, the GREAT yard (which Matt, Dad, and Uncle Randy have already relieved of the huge bushes in the back), God's faithfulness, Mom and Dad's setting up help, and for two of Matt's coworkers who made the actual moving of belongings FLY by!

More soon when we get our internet set up at the house. :) We can't wait to show you before and after pictures!

Love,
Becca

p.s. Today is the last full day of school!!!!

Oh Becca!!! Think of the long summer months ahead--you'll have that house transformed into a HOME in no time! We're blessed with helpful family members, aren't we (mine all helped with the nursery recently!)!?! What's the word on your Uncle's confirmation? I was praying!
Love you!

Becca,

The house sounds so exciting-pea soup green walls and all!! What color did you paint over them? I can't wait to see your before and after pictures!

By the way, I should be here in Orlando when you come down. If you have time and would like to get together, let me know. But no pressure-I know you are going to be with some other people so if we can't do it, I understand! I just didn't want you to think I was blowing you off, and it would be fun to catch up!
Keep us all posted on the house!

Oh-I thought of you and Matt last week-Wes and I went on vacation to Destin and I remember that is where you all honeymooned! It was WONDERFUL and Wes had to tear me away from there to come back to Orlando. I'll be posting pictures soon on my blog ;).

Have a great day!
