Shopping Spree!

Today we headed to the mall to do a little shopping. We had some gift cards, and we found a great sale! Dillard's had a bunch of nice men's clothes 75% off! Granted, it was all fall/wintery stuff, BUT we got Matt 5 really nice shirts for under $50! He said I picked out more clothes for him to try on than he's ever tried on before at once. I only picked 5 shirts, 2 pairs of pants, and 1 pair of shorts! Obviously, the pants and shorts didn't cut it. But ALL FIVE of the shirts I picked Matt liked too. :) I will post pictures of them as soon as we charge our camera batteries. We found a dark brown dress shirt, a yellow dress shirt, a green sweater with a horizontal stripe across the top, a great beige long-sleeved polo, and a dressy black polo. We also FINALLY got to really look around Sears and have Matt pick some things out using the gift card his co-workers gave him. He picked a realy cool dremmel tool with lots of attachments and a "deluxe carrying case," one of those indestructable Craftsman black hoses, a hose nozzle, and a digital multimeter. He still has almost $50 more dollards left on the gift card! It was amazing! :) While we paid in Sears, the cahsier told us about a hotrod show in the Macy's parking lot. We stopped by and walked through. We thought of Dad, of course. :) It was sweet to see Matt's eyes light up with different cars. If there's a spring break we can't make it to Knoxville, Dad should definitely come down. It was neat-o. :)

On our way home, Jessica called with some Knoxville-related wedding questions. I gave her my best advice and list of contacts. :) It's so exciting to have friends joining us in marriage! :) We also stopped by Sonic and got ourselves a treat. I had a peanut butter fudge shake, and or course my vision is blurry now. :-( So, no chocolate for me! I got St. Patrick's Day cupcakes, but we ate all the yellow cake ones, only chocolate ones are left. I guess I"ll have to have some Italian ice if I want dessert. :)

Now I am trying to finish grading for my students who are being considered for retention. I have a meeting about that this week, so I need to get them averaged. Then I need to finish averages for the rest of the class during the week in order to enter grades by Friday. Oh, speaking of Friday--I have it off!! Wahoooo! :) I worked our school carnival, and I'm working late one day this week, so I get the teacher inservice day OFF!! I am SOOOO excited! :) Jsut the break I need to make it one MORE week until spring break. :) :)

We love you and we hope you're having a good weekend! We MISS you!
Love,
Becca

Kim,
The state of FL requires 3rd graders to pass the reading portion of FCAT in order to be promoted to 4th grade. There are some alternatives if the score is not achieved (using the norm-referenced test score, trying again after summer school, for example). But that's a biggie and state requirement! As for in general, I'd have to tell you after my meeting. I've never had a retention meeting before, so I just averaged their grades and thought about how to explain what I see as the root of their achievement problems (i.e. is it they realllllly don't get it, they are unmotivated, etc.). I don't think you need to worry about it with your kiddos--who I miss VERRRY much, by the way! I can't believe we can't stop by your house when we visit over spring break and get big hugs! We'll just have to make our way to central/south FL soon. :)

Yea shopping! How does that work where you work late and then get days off? You'll have to explain that to me. :) I hope you enjoy your shortened week!
