Long Time, No Write

I'm sorry we haven't written all week. Once the school week gets rolling, there's a lot to do! And this week I had another "new teacher" meeting, but on Wednesday night after school. That, of course, decreases the amount of time I have with Matt, so blogging wasn't the highest priority. :)

Last night we went out to dinner. It was our date night, and Matt had said he would cook for me one night this week. We've had a couple laughs, because I have tried REALLY hard to do ALL the house stuff on my own. Until this week (3.5 months into our marriage) Matt had not folded any clothes since we got married. He has not vacuumed, dusted, or done laundry since we got married. And he cooked for me once on my birthday (which was wonderful :) ). Anyway, he's finally convincing me I don't have to do it all by myself to be a good wife. He's finally convincing me I'm not doing a bad job if I let him/need him to help. So, he folded some clothes and some linens this week, and he's cooking me dinner TONIGHT! On top of taking me out to dinner last night. :) We used Ebay's Rent.com when searching for an apartment here in Gainesville. You can sign up for them to email you suggestions, and if you end up leasing from one of their suggestions, they will send you a $100 Visa card! Well, we did indeed rent from one of their suggestions, and our $100 Visa came in the mail 2 weeks ago or so. We want to use most of it to buy groceries or something we'd normally buy (and put the money we WOULD have used on groceries aside for the "traveling to Las Vegas for Erin's wedding" fund), but we wanted to have a fun treat with it too. :)

So, first we went to Hops. Matt loves the bread they serve while you wait for your food. There were a few people waiting, but not bad. Somehow those few people waiting = 40-45 minute wait to be seated! We decided to go elsewhere. We agreed upon.... Olive Garden!! YUM! :) The wait there, with a million people standing around, was 20-25 minutes. Yes. :) Matt chose chicken parmigiana and I had alfredo chicken pizza. I also, for the second time ever, had a strawberry daiquiri (non-alcoholic both times :) ). The other time I had one was for our "big dinner out" for our honeymoon (at the Back Porch for any Destin people :) ). Since I was repeating that with my special drink, it of course made us think of our honeymoon. Awwwww. And we talked about how much we'd love to go back to that resort, even for a long weekend, and to the very unit we stayed in. Matt was so cute; he said, "It feels like it's 'ours' anyway... we lived there for a week and cooked (i.e. heated up food my wonderful mother made and froze ahead of time for us) there." It was a sweet time, we had a great waitress (or is that bad to say now, are you supposed to say "server"?), and we have more that enough food left over to get at least one more meal out of each of our entrees. :) It was also interesting, because I like to people watch and there was couple waiting when we waited and seated near us who seemed to be on a date. I'm not sure if it was a first date or not, but it seemed like they probably hadn't dated too much (judging by the nervous laughter, etc. exchanged). They looked like they probably went to UF (i.e. college students). She reminded me of a girl a few years ahead of me from the high school youth group. Anyway, they were talking and passing the time really easily while they waited to be seated. But once we were seated as well and I saw them at their table, there were allllll these looooong awkward silences between them. It made my heart go out to them! The girl seemed to be waiting for the guy to lead the conversation, so she'd sit there sweetly with her hands folded in her lap, smiling while the guy munched on breadsticks and couldn't always look her in the eye. I felt so bad, I guess since I have had the privilege of being pursued by my wonderful husband who is a wonderful leader and shepherd as well. On our first date (I WILL write our "how we met" story, Kay! I promise it's coming! :)), he led our conversation and interactions so well. I don't think we had even one awkward pause. And that hasn't changed. And how my heart was spared by only dating the one who pursues me and loves me so well! I am SO thankful, and it's all the Lord's doing!

I can't say we really have any tremendous weekend plans, EXCEPT for birthday shopping for my Dad. :) :) :) Apparently he was a little stingy with his birthday list, so now we get to be creative and think something up that we think he will like. :) Best of ALL, he and my mom are coming to visit us in about 2 weeks! We are sooooo excited! We're really at the point that company is so more than welcome, and the thought of getting to spend time with my family practically makes me drool. :) And they're brining my grandmother down so she can visit with my great-aunt, AND Uncle Randy is coming up during the weekend to see everyone! :) Hip Hip Hooray! :)

I suppose I should go and not bore you to tears with too many more random tid bits. :) Hopefully I can write more this week, including our "how we met" story. :)

MUCH love and missing you!!!
Becca & Matt :)

You know I live for those random tid bits. It's how we've stayed close so long and so far! ;) I'm glad that everything is going so smoothly and that you're letting Matt help. It's darn near impossible to work AND do everything for the house too. Since Adam isn't over here much I do it all myself and I'll tell you the place could do with some cleaning. But once we're married, he's been clued in that it's not just me. :) hehe

It's fun to watch people. I like to pretend like I know exactly what's going on and offer them advice in my head. ;) hehehe

Have a super duper weekend full of birthday dad shopping. Love you all lots.

Becca.
We moms of little men work very hard to teach them to fold clothes, clean pottys, make beds and cook food for a reason!! One of which is to be a tremendous blessing to their future wives as they partner with them in the household duties. Dale Jewett does the most perfect hospital corners when making a bed . . . waaaay better than me! Thank you, Grandma Jewett!! ALSO . . it is a way for Matt to bless you as you work long hours as well away from the home. Receive girl! You are your mother's daughter! (I know she is giggling as she reads this)
Speaking of . . I would love to catch a glimpse of some of my favorite people as they visit you guys. Even if only for a few minutes.
