I believe I've heard the phrase, "two paycheck family." Yesterday, we were a THREE paycheck family!! How fun is that? I know it's silly, but I guess I'm still enjoying the blessing of being compensated monetarily for teaching a classroom. :) The reason we are getting 3 paychecks is that we get Matt's, along with a substitute teaching paycheck, and a full-time teaching paycheck. They've had to divide up my substitute and full-time (overlap) days up kind of funny, but at least this month I got sub and full-time (for their respective appropriate amounts) paychecks. Woo hoo! We are especially excited because this marks the beginning of saving money for a house every paycheck, since we are not using money I make to live off of. :) We are excited to see how God's plan in that area unfolds next year (?)
Today was my LAST day as a substitute--and I am praising our Lord for that after the students' behavior. I know it was the last day before Christmas break, but WHEW! I had to turn off their movie reward, because their behavior (on the whole) was atrocious. The sweet secretary said to me when I turned in the room key, "You never have to teach them again" (I've had them 3 days this week). After school I collected the plan book and teacher's editions for my 3rd graders.... and so it begins. :) WOW!!!!!! My very OWN classroom!! I have keys and entered their grades and everything!
Tonight we are going out to dinner to celebrate our two month "ann"iversary (we realize that was yesterday, but I wanted to wait until I didn't have another day of subbing ahead of me). Matt and I are really looking forward to it. :) It should be yummy and fun. :)
We are loving getting Christmas cards from our families and friends--what a blessing to be remembered by them and reminded of such sweet gifts God has given us in you all. I have ribbon hanging from our banister, and I attach each card/picture to the ribbon for all to see. I am really thinking we need to find a way to have someone/people over while our house is all decorated. :)
One great thing about subbing, in addition to the $, meeting teachers, learning my way around, and having something to do, is that I can be quite genuinely excited about Christmas break. Yea! We hope you have a wonderful Christmas celebration with your family and friends, and we can't wait to see you soon (if we're headed your way). :)
LOOOOOOOVE,
Us :)
