I was told a very sad story when I met my third graders last week. One little girl said someone was pet-sitting her dog, and the pet-sitter let another friend take the dog to Tennessee. So, naturally, upon learning I moved here from Tennessee, I have been requested to see if anyone I know knows of a runaway dog named Adrian. If you have any information regarding said dog, just let me know. :) I promised I'd ask.
Today I subbed in 5th grade, but I got to see my third graders while they walked to lunch. They all started saying, "Mrs. Kubo! Mrs. Kubo!!" and a few got out of line to give me a hug. One even brought a Christmas present for me today!!!! It's a sweet snowflake votive holder--how amazing is that? I also saw the first graders I subbed across the greenway today, and they all started waving and shouting, "Mrs. Kubo!" Actually, several of them probably shouted, "Mrs. Q," as they inadvertantly shortened it to during class. :) It was sweet, nonetheless. I feel bad for their real teachers when it happens--I don't want to be a disruption. :) But it's nice to be liked, since I have such a "mean" and "strict" reputation. ;)
Tonight we are going to watch the Survivor finale we taped on Tivo. Tomorrow I'm off (YEA) and getting my new married name driver's license. I'm also trying to meet the wife of Matt's coworker for lunch and maybe a little Christmas shopping. Today I bought more stamps at Publix, so I should be able to finish mailing Christmas and wedding thank you cards very soon!
I'm off for our relaxing evening now, after I move the laundry over from the washer.
Oh yeah, one more thing. I scraped ICE off our windshields this morning!! ICE, in FLORIDA!!! Whoa!! And to think it was in the 70s just last week. And they say it could be again anytime. Hehehe. I thought Tennessee had wacky weather sometimes--this is just plain weird! And cold. Cold but good. :) I had to laugh to myself as I scraped the ice though. Matt and I are still hoping for a dusting of snow once we're up in Tennessee for Christmas... we'll see!!
Love,
Becca

From a fellow Floridian . . (how weird is that, Becca?!) It is supposed to get chilly here tonight. It might get as low as 49. It was 55 this morning when the boys went to the bus stop and they were freezing. Mid 70's for highs the remainder of the week. We still have to break out the sunscreen at the beach.
So glad your students are recognizing their new teacher. You are special to them already . . and they have much more in store. I can't wait to get to know some of them through your experiences.
That poor little girl! How horrid! However, it's nice that she could identify you as being from TN. :) And woohoo for ice! Woohoo right? Not Ugh!
Still looking for the doggy! :)
