Happy Belated 6 Months to Us!

Last night we attended the Nickel Creek concert as a 6 month "ann"iversary gift to ourselves. Matt loves music and always has--and I do too-- (he played marching French horn in the Pride of the Southland UT marching band), and we both like Nickel Creek. One of his coworkers had CLOSE tickets he couldn't use, so Matt snagged them up. :)

We started the evening off with dinner at Moe's. It was really crowded, because UF is having their reading days/beginning of finals this week. There were lots of college students studying at the plaza where Moe's is (there's also a Coldstone Creamery, Panera, and Starbucks in the plaza). A booth did open up right when we got our food, so we got to sit down and relax while we enjoyed our dinner. :)

Then we headed to the Phillips center on campus for the concert. It was beautiful!! We were less than ten rows back and off center. It was great--we could see the whole stage at once, and a tiny bit of backstage action in the wings from our seats. :) Then opening act, the Ditty Bops, was really fun. And Nickel Creek was awesome! I have to say, I was totally impressed that the fiddle player did the WHOLE concert in pretty high heels. It was cute to see her take them off for the encore though. :) This is the same tour Brad and Joy saw, so we figured out quickly that the play list was going to be very close/identical to the cd we have of the Knoxville concert. That was fun, because we could anticipate some of our favorites. They still did the cover of Britney Spears' "Toxic," which was still really funny and well-received. They introduced it by saying they were honoring an artist whose formative artistic years were spent right in Florida (i.e. The Mickey Mouse Club). We are also super-impressed with the base player they had with him. He was amazing, and he tap danced too!

We really enjoyed our special night out. It's the first "function" of this kind we've managed to attend since the wedding. We can't wait to see what UF brings to town next!

p.s. Our mortgage is now official! Now we're just trying to get the inspector lined up. The two we've tried so far are booked up past the date we need it. We'd appreciate your prayers on a good and speedy inspector. :)

**EDIT** We have an inspector lined up, now we just need to confirm the seller will be able to let us in the house for it at that time. :)

How cool that you got to see Nickel Creek! I loved the concert when we saw them here. If you were off center, were you toward the "Sara side" or the "Sean side"? We were pretty much directly in front of Sara when we saw them. I hope your audience was super into it - that was fun when they were here in Knoxville. Plus Nickel Creek just has SO MUCH energy.

Woohoo for 6 month anniversaries!!! I'm so glad that you got to see the concert and just relax and enjoy yourselves. It's very easy to slip into "so busy" and forget to take the time to appreciate. Maybe easier in the fast paced life of Vegas, but still easy everywhere else. Congrats again!! Love you guys!!! Just 6 more months and it'll be A YEAR!!!
