Ahh, Sweet Relief!

Last weekend I began developing some type of cold I think I caught from one of my students (I have a particular suspect, too :) ). Through the week it has built to the point of aggravating my asthma, which turned into coughing all night last night. I was hoping it wouldn't get to that point. Today we had an all-important field trip to see A Christmas Carol (starring one of MY students), and there was no way I was going to send my kids with a sub. So, I made it through today. I am, however, taking a sick day tomorrow in an attempt to recuperate.

I was lamenting to Mom the oh-so-sad demise of my FAVORITE cough medicine. It's an All Star. Seriously. It's the only thing that works for me. I think it was the end of undergrad or sometime during my internship year when I got hit harder with an asthma bout than I had in quite some time. The doctor completely revamped my inhaler options (apparently I was using quite the old "technology"), and wow--did it make a difference. Amazing! I could breathe! I could even use one of them (everyone's favorite purple flying saucer--Advair) preventatively. And I did for our wedding! It was not uncommon for me to have an asthma flair and lose my voice in October. So, I started on the Advair about a month before the wedding in hopes of having a voice for my vows (and I did!). Anyway, the doctor also recommended something to clear out my head. He told me what active ingredient to ask the pharmacist for. That is how I was introduced to...

Robitussin Severe Cold

The magic pill. No, really.

But then came all sorts of cold medicine reformations and pulling things off the shelf due to meth production fears. And sadly, Robitussion Severe Cold (or our equal favorite, Waltussin :) ) disappeared from the stores.

BUT (yes, it's a big BUT), today in scrounging for some cold medicine to clear my head, I came upon an unfinished box of Robitussin Severe Cold. I was so excited I took a picture.

Sweet turquoise green pills.... I am so glad to see you again! Please help me sleep tonight!
