Sad and neglected by its mistress and getting no love from the readership. ;) hehe I think things might be settling in on my end (ha, like it will last), so hopefully we can turn things around.
I had fun with the kiddos today. It is so fun to see them "take" to ideas and activities. I have challenged my math group this week. If they compose a multiplication rap to help us memorize any of the times tables, I will give them extra credit. Now every day I've had on particular girl who is by no means "rapper" looking (hehe) try to pull off what she must think are "rapper" poses while trying to come up with a beat. It cracks me up every time.
Yesterday in science we had a few left-over minutes. I initiated a game of "uses for water" charades. They were hilarious. So sweet. I love that they feel safe enough to get up and act out something--even something silly--in front of the class. I'm always striving to establish that kind of trust and community. One guess in particular, I wish I could remember now, had me bent over laughing (which they loved).
This morning we had a bit of a rude awakening. I woke up and thought, "Oh, I woke up before the alarm." I rolled over to look at the clock. 7:14 was glaring back in my face. It took a minute to register....
7:14...7:14....why does that seem funny?

OH WAIT!!!

I'M SUPPOSED TO BE AT WORK AT 7:15!!!!!!
.
MATT!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S 7:15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He sweetly got up, threw together a peanut butter sandwich for me while I dressed in somewhat of a daze. I called the office to tell them I was running late (THANKFULLY the kids don't come in the rooms until 7:40/7:45. praise the LORD He woke me up in time to be there for the kids!). It was my day for sidewalk duty too, so they passed along the message that I needed someone to fill-in until I got there. Whew!
The funniest comment of the whole ordeal came from L. When I told the kids about my morning she raised her hand and said (when called on)... "Mrs. Kubo, I could tell that you must have been tried and rushed this morning, because you are just wearing that t-shirt. Usually you are wearing some kind of sweater with a nice, fancy shirt underneath." My response, "You are right, L, I usually do wear something nicer than this. But, I actually planned to wear this today." Why today, sweet readers, being the third Friday in September, which is the day which proceeds the third Saturday in Saturday, might I have been wearing a t-shirt instead of a nicer shirt? What kind of t-shirt would incite me (and many coworkers) to break from our normally professional attire?

And so, I enjoyed my day of being somewhat troublesome, of explaining to little ones I am not calling them "ugly" and the history of the phrase "the good, the bad, and the ugly, and even a little email from our pastor. :)
But University of Florida fans, you need to know I will be glad for whichever team wins tomorrow. I will just be a little MORE glad if one team in particular pulls out the big W.

It sounds like you guys are having a GREAT time in class. Are they making up their own raps...or did you teach them one? YEA for UT even if we lost. We still have the best shade of orange. Ha.
Happy weekend! Love, Mom
Good job! You can be a trouble maker and loyal all at the same time. ;) Did UT lose? But they win with fans like you?!
